Due to our plans for aggressive growth the Landscape Construction Division has an immediate opening for a Landscape Construction Field Operations Manager in Laytonsville, Maryland.

Responsibilities

The Landscape Construction Field Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of production in the branch. These responsibilities include the direct supervision of the Production Manager, Project Manager(s) and Purchaser. The Operations Manager is ultimately responsible for all field operations, personnel, vehicles and equipment, safety, subcontracts, direct costs accounts and selected overhead expenses.

 

  • Hire,train, and supervise Purchaser, Production Manger and Project Managers
  • Ensure timely performance evaluations are conducted for all production and field staff
  • Ensure that all policies and procedures are disseminated and followed
  • Create a safe working environment for employees and subcontractors
  • Ensure that all field staff receive first-day orientation and continuing training
  • Develop bench strength throughout the branch
  • Exceed each customer's expectation for quality, workmanship and service
  • Establish job cost goals and monitor performance
  • Assign projects to Production or Project Managers based on scheduling requirements
  • Allocate manpower and equipment resources to each Production or Project Manager
  • Review all information entered in LSI and submitted to the Contract Administrator
  • Maximize fleet usage and minimize rental equipment costs
  • Approve all subcontract agreements prior to commencing work
  • Build relationships with subcontractors and ensure that they are managed effectively
  • Provide feedback to the Estimators on the accuracy of direct cost estimates
  • Ensure that daily LSI entry and field reports are completed accurately
  • Utilize LSI to track daily revenue and productivity by project and by Field Manager
  • Review all customer bills with the Contract Administrator and assist with collections
  • Identify opportunities to propose and sell extra work on existing projects
  • Conduct weekly purchasing meeting to pre-approve purchases and address challenges
  • Conduct weekly production meeting to schedule work and address challenges
  • Meet weekly with Branch Manager to approve LSI payroll and invoices
  • Complete any additional duties or assignments as directed by the Branch Manager


 

Qualifications

  • Ability to analyze situations, consider options, and decide on actions quickly
  • Ability to negotiate deals and resolve conflicts with customers and vendors
  • Extensive knowledge otimf contracting, in general, and landscape installation, specifically
  • Basic knowledge of plant material and best horticultural practices
  • Detailed knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Ability to build strong relationships with employees, vendors and customersAbility to project a professional image and a positive attitude in all situations
  • Ability to establish productivity benchmarks and motivate employees to achieve goals
  • Ability to interpret and utilize accounting and financial reports Strong organizational and time management skills Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, SLICEÂ and LSI
